Do You Brush Your Teeth? You Have What It Takes to Succeed

Do you brush your teeth? Seems like a rather odd question to ask - especially on a website about getting paid, no?

However, if you do brush your teeth on a regular basis, this could help you to succeed in your business. (See Below).

Want to skip right to how to make money online? Use my #1 Recommended Pick to find out how!

Why We Brush Our Teeth

When we were kids, we were told by our parents that we have to brush our teeth. We'd ask why. Our parents would tell us it's because we don't want our teeth to fall out.

But wait! Didn't we get paid money any time a tooth fell out? The story went that the tooth fairy would come and take the tooth in exchange for some cash!

Tooth Fairy

Hmmm. Doesn't sound like a good motivator to brush our teeth.

The point is, kids don't really care whether their teeth are going to fall out. They care about eating dirt or figuring out what they are going to get for Christmas, etc.

Over time, and with constant badgering from your parents, it sinks in that you need to brush your teeth!

You Formed Good Habits Early On

Even though you needed to be told by your parents each night to brush your teeth, eventually it became part of your daily routine. This is why you don't need your parents now to tell you to brush. You just do it. You have built up this habit by constant reinforcement.

Success in Business Works the Same Way

When you are running your business, if you have a series of tasks that you believe will lead you to success, you need to repeat them in order to make them part of your daily routine.

What kinds of tasks should you repeat?

It's going to depend on the type of business you run, but if your business interacts with people online, you'll could do the following as repetitive tasks:

  • Post content on Facebook
  • Create posts for your blog
  • Post relevant comments on forums
  • Find guest post opportunities and post
  • Tweet updates about your business
  • Create a video as it relates to your posts
  • Create a SlideShare presentation
  • Etc.

This is by no means a complete list (not even close). But, it should give you some idea o the types of tasks that you can get in the habit of doing repeatedly.

 How to Get Started

Good habits are formed by being consistent and frequent in your efforts. If you were to take on all the above tasks, plus any others you come up with, you will likely fail at developing them into habits.

Instead, every time your brush your teeth going forward, thing about your business. Initially, don't worry about the tasks themselves. Just set your mindset to think about your business each time you brush your teeth. Do this for two or three weeks.

Then, when your mindset is focused on your business when you do the simple act of brushing your teeth, you can start to incorporate one task from your list of tasks. You still don't need to do the task but simply think about it any time your brush your teeth. This will further your thought process that the task is important.

As you train your mind to focus on the tasks while brushing your teeth, when you actually start implementing them, the thought process behind them will be automatic.

Association Creates Mental Pathways

When you associated something you do on a regular basis with new tasks, you take something familiar (brushing your teeth) and you add something not so familiar (such as tasks that you need to do in your business).

The ideal way to go about this in small increments. Try the most important task first and then once it's a regular habit, add others in, one at a time.

What If You Don't Have a Business?

If you don't have a business of your own, it's super easy to get started with one. And you really should because it's easy. You just need to know what steps to take in order to get going on it. I can show you these steps which you can use to get started right away.

Even if you still have a full time job, you can get started part time to develop your business. By using the brushing your teeth paradigm, you will have what it takes to accomplish the tasks needed for this new business while you continue working in your job.

If you really feel like you don't have the time, you can hire others to take on the tasks. Just ask them if they brush their teeth everyday (just kidding).

Blogging by Efron Hirsch – Book Review

The book describes what components you will need to make money with a blog.

If this book were written 10 years ago, I would probably have a different opinion than I do now. It's not that it's a bad book or poorly written. It's just that the information contained within, you can easily obtain it online for free.

Blogging by Efron Hirsch

Title: Blogging

Subtitle: The Ultimate Guide On How to Replace Your Job With a Blog

Author: Efron Hirsch

Recommended: Read Review...

If you want to get access to a totally free system that shows you all the steps you need to take to make money with your blog, don't hesitate to check out this system. It's My #1 Pick for Making Money Online!

PROS vs. CONS

PROS

  • Well written
  • Complete List of Components (without implementation details)
  • Some Useful Links

CONS

  • Too General or High Level
  • Basic Information Found Elsewhere (for free)
  • Will Need More Instruction Than is Available Here
  • The word "Ultimate" in the subtitle is a huge stretch.

The information presented in this book is too high-level. There are some useful links, but overall, you will need more instruction even after you complete the book.

The author even specifies that some people may criticize the book for being too basic. He states that if you already know how to do it, you wouldn't need the book and it's meant for beginners.

However, even if you are a beginner who has never created a blog before, you won't be able to hit the ground running, so to speak, after reading this book. It is simply too basic to give you that capability.

The book does list the components that a typical blog should contain. It doesn't seem like anything was left out of that list. I also like the fact that he specifies that in some countries, like the United States, you will need to disclose the fact that you are getting paid by vendors. That is a positive aspect of the book.

There are some useful links in the book that will lead you to resources that you'll find useful, although, you'll probably be confused as to how they fit from just reading this book.

Conclusion

You will need more to earn money with a blog than the information contained within this book. That is the bottom line. I cannot in good conscious even recommend the book as a beginner's book because you will need to supplement your knowledge with other resources. The information in the book is not incorrect, it's just not complete.

Distraction-Free Ways to Create Content

We all know the importance of creating great content. It's the one true component that not only survives Google algorithm updates, but is encouraged by them.

But, if you're like me, you get easily distracted when creating your content. Has this ever happened to you?

You start brainstorming for content and this leads you to go in several different directions. You check the weather, sports scores, etc. You think of something that you wanted to get done from a week ago, and you branch off to try to get that done.

After you finally get your content written (after a day or two of distractions), it's time to find some images for your content.

Once again, you set out to find images and the next thing you know, it's a day later and you've scanned through dozens of unrelated sites in the meantime.

Streamline the Content-Creation Process

I knew I needed a way to streamline the process of creating content. After some research - and more distractions 🙂 - I came up with a way that helps reduce those distractions. Here is what I do now:

  • Create an Outline
  • Start Your Research and Bookmark Potential Research Items
  • Obtain All Your Assets Before Writing (Video, Audio, Images, Infographics, etc.)
  • Schedule Time Based on Outline
  • Create a Tagging System
  • Take Advantage of When the Muse Strikes
  • Enter your text here...

  • Edit After Each Outline Section

Create an Outline

Once I started creating outlines, my content creation efforts exploded. Before I did this, I would struggle to find what I would write about. Now, I just go down the list of outline items and write.

Also, making an outline will help you in the section titled, Obtain All Your Assets Before Writing. You'll have a better idea of the assets you need just from your outline.

Start Your Research and Bookmark Potential Research Items

Research is an essential part of content creation. But, reading through each item and writing based on what you have just read, sets you up for some serious distractions. A better approach is to find potential articles that you want to use and bookmark those pages.

When you are ready to write your content, then you can start to read through the meat of the research and determine which items you may use for your content.

Note: you may find that doing the research before your outline makes more sense. If so, simply switch the order of execution.

Start skimming the research to determine whether the research you obtained truly fits with the idea you are going for. It should go without say that you are not looking to copy anything from your research and you should cite your sources whenever possible.

Obtain All Your Assets Before Writing

Too many content creators write a paragraph, then go and try to find something to fit in the paragraph, like a video or an image. Then, they go back and write another paragraph or two and look for assets that fit for this paragraph.

As mentioned, your outline will give you the ability to predetermine those assets before you even write your content. Why is this important?

Because when you bouncing back and forth between writing content and looking for assets, you increase your chances of getting distracted. If you have those assets ahead of time, you can write your entire content document and then fit the previously obtained asset. No need to search for anything, at this point.

Note: you'll come across times when the assets you've selected don't fit as well as you thought, or you need more assets for your content. I'll get into this more with the section, Create a Tagging System. This will help you prevent breaking your work to find those assets.

When you have your assets, upload them all to where you are going to use them. This is a better practice than interrupting yourself while you are writing.

If you are using WordPress, you can go into the media manager and upload those assets ahead of time. Then, when you are ready to add them, you can simply hit the Add Media button in your post or page.

Caution: If the multimedia assets are large or likely to use a good amount of bandwidth, you should consider housing those assets somewhere else that can handle the bandwidth. For instance, if you have videos, you can house them on YouTube. If you want more professional access, use Amazon's S3 or some other solution from WordPress or Vimeo. You'll have to pay for these but it's better than getting shutdown from your hosting company if you go over on your bandwidth.

Schedule Time Based on Your Outline

For each item in your outline, take a guess as to how long you need to write your content. If your content is a video, you'll probably want to add much more time than written content.

You will get better at this the more you do it. You will start to get a good feel for how long each outline section will take. It's okay to be wrong, especially in the beginning. Don't let wrong estimates get you down. Just keep going. Push subsequent items out when you go over.

Create a Tagging System

You'll come across unanticipated items. Perhaps you gained more insight as later in the process than when you started. One way to keep the flow going is to continue writing and tag (like bookmarking) places where you need to fill in later.

I like to use brackets {} or [] to indicate you need to fill in some further details later. Other people use a tag like TODO: etc. Whatever works for you is fine. Just come up with something.

If you find you are tagging many sections, perhaps that is an indication that you need to capture more research or you don't know the subject as well as you though.

You could also use this tagging system as a placeholder for where your assets such as videos and graphics are going to go into the document.

Take Advantage of When the Muse Strikes

Most people find their inspiration comes in spurts. Some people get that burst of inspiration in the morning while others may find it on a certain day of the week. When you find your zone, try to create several content items during that inspiration period.

For example, if you plan on creating four blog posts for a particular week, write all of them on one day and schedule them.

Edit After Each Outline Section

Editing is one of those dreary activities that are necessary evils. Too many content creators skip this task altogether. The problem is after the content is finished, you often have this huge document that you'll need to read through and make changes. This is a surefire recipe to do anything but, thus getting distracted.

If instead, you do your editing after each outline section, it won't seem like such a gargantuan task.

Conclusion

You may choose to use all of these methods. Or, you may find only some of them work for you and discover others that work better for you. The key is to make it into a process so that you can easily follow the steps. Whatever steps you choose as part of your process, you will have a much less chance of getting distracted when creating your content.

It’s Nice to Share! Or Is It? ShareMagnet Review

Product: ShareMagnet.com

Cost: $0

Summary: ShareMagnet.com should not be looked upon as being a scam but don't expect much from the service. There are plenty of other places where you can get much more for money for the effort.

Affiliate Disclosure: Site owner will receive a commission on products or services purchased via links/banners on this page.

Analysis

The concept behind this website is you get paid to share. What do you share? You share what other members post to the website. You will be given a list of posts that have payouts associated with them. If you share those posts on your social media channels and they get clicked on, you get the amount specified.

Pros

This is an easy way to make a little money. If you get enough shares and the payout amount is big enough, you can earn a decent amount.

Cons

The payout amounts listed are usually quite small.

You are essentially sharing advertising on your social media channels. Not everyone of your fans/friends are going to appreciate this, especially the more you do it.

Don't expect to retire from a program such as this.

What You Get

The concept is appealing. Advertisers bid for their content (products and services) to be shared. They specify the amount. If you share it and one of your followers clicks on it, you get the bid amount. Seems simple, no?

Cents on the Dollar

If you are wondering how much you can get paid, you are looking at cents on the dollar. Some offers will give you 20 cents while others will be much less than that.

The appeal is if you have a large following and you know many will click, the money multiplier kicks in. That's where you could theoretically make a fair amount of money.

The problem is, no one on social media wants to be sold to. So if you do this often enough, you can expect your following to dwindle. People will catch on to the fact you are sharing or the sole purpose of getting paid. Shame on you!

You're Brand Is at Stake

Even if you aren't selling anything, your reputation matters in social media. Get a bad reputation, and it's going to be difficult to recover from that. Being overly promotional is going to give you a bad reputation. It's almost a guarantee.

Therefore, you should think twice about trying to make any significant money with this program. It should be used sparingly and that defeats its purpose.

No Indication of Referral Program

Many programs of this nature offer the ability to recruit others and get a portion of their activity, in this case clicks. This gives members incentive to convince others to join. It can also lead to higher earnings as you are piggybacking off the efforts of others and you don't have to worry about negative aspects on your social media, because the referrals are the ones doing the sharing.

There is no indication that ShareMagnets has a referral program. This means that the only way to earn is to share for the clicks.

Complaints

In 2014, one report on RipoffReport.com shows how the company does not pay. There are some other reports floating around stating that the company does not always credit for the right amount of clicks. In other words, if you get 20 clicks, they will credit your account for 15, etc.

Bottom Line

ShareMagnets is not a scam, although if the complaints listed above are substantiated, it should probably downgraded to a scam. The bottom line is you will not make a lot of money with this company. Simply stated, there are much better ways to make money online.

Is It Too Late To Make Money Online?

I happen to love scanning old newspapers about articles on just about any topic. Sometimes I randomly select topics and years for my search, just to see what comes up.

Other times, though, I search for something specific. I had been researching pieces about getting paid online around the period of the Dot Com Bust. The year I found was 2000.

The article I saw was about concerns for missing the Internet Gravy Boat. That's the same topic as this post but just worded differently. I mean, seriously, people were concerned in 2000 that they missed the boat in making money online? The internet only started getting popular in the mid 90's! The year 2000 is only five or six years later. How can anyone possibly miss the boat in five years?

But, here we are in 2016. And after 20 years (mid 90's on), you may be wondering if it is too late to make money online. Let's face it - 20 years is many more than 5. It's more relevant to believe that online business is saturated and too competitive at this stage of the game.

What About Millennials?

Another concern is recent news about Millennials starting up companies. How can we compete with them? I mean, these rascals know everything about technology and they seem much more well suited for starting up businesses, don't they?

Unfortunately, millennials are considering start ups only because they aren't able to find jobs, at least not ones that would support the kind of lifestyle they envision living. Entrepreneur to many millennials is simply something to do because there is no other choice. This doesn't make them good at it nor do they necessarily know what to do.

This isn't to say some millennials won't make it as entrepreneurs, even when placed in that situation by no choice of their own. Every group of people will have their fair share of innovators and people who put themselves in the right place at the right time.

And, like any other group, millennials learn quickly that starting up any venture comes with a lot of work and there is no guarantee of success.

Aging Population?

There's also the other side of the spectrum, the Baby Boomers. I read a statistic that shows 10,000 Baby Boomers retire each day. What's interesting about this though, is many of these Boomers want to do something during their retirement, including work.

So, it's perfectly conceivable to believe this group will be starting up business online as well. And truth be told, many of them will.

Between the Millennials and the Boomers, how can anyone possibly carve out a niche competing against these two groups?

Let's also not forget every other group who may have been searching for work but simply gave up. When they discover there's money to be made with this internet-thingy, they are likely to jump in and get started.

Take a Step Back

Before you throw in the towel, and declare market saturation, consider that no group inherently knows how to form or run a business. They have to learn how to do it. Most of them will try every scheme to see which one eventually works. The problem with this brute force approach is they typically run out of money well before they see success, if ever.

Imagine if you learned how to create your online business the right way. You'd be way ahead of all of these other people, wouldn't you? How cool would that be?

It Takes More Than Hard Work

I have no doubt many of the people in the above groups mentioned will start out working hard. They will put every effort imaginable and work hard with the limited knowledge they have acquired. The trouble is, working hard on the wrong tasks or methods is a path to surefire failure.

When you know what to do and have the steps to do it, you simply follow those steps. If you do this, you may find people start coming to your website and will start subscribing to your list or even better, may start buying from you.

Need Affordable Small Business Website Design?

Have you ever looked at another website and thought, wouldn't it be great to have something like that yourself? If so, you may be in the market for affordable small business website design.null

Hiring a website designer can get expensive. There's no guarantee that even when you do, your website will turn out that great.

Note: Site owner may receive compensation from purchases made via the links and/or banners contained on this page!

There's also no guarantee that a great looking website will bring traffic and sales. There are plenty of good looking websites sitting idle or finding their way into blog oblivion.

What Are Your Options?

Having many options is both good and bad. The good is you get to choose and hopefully save some money in the process. The bad is you may not know how to choose. That's where this guide will help!

Do It Yourself (DIY)

Okay, so you're not a website designer. No Biggie! You can still find a way to have your cake and eat it too. That is, you can develop your website yourself. This was not as easy to do ten or so years ago. Before Content Management Systems (CMS) like WordPress came onto the scene, your best choice was to hire someone to design your website.

CMS gives the average person, without any design skills, the ability to create professional looking websites. They also give you the ability to update your content on a frequent basis. Before, you had to ask your designer to make updates for you.

How It's Done

Going forward, I'll refer to WordPress as that is the most popular CMS. The concepts between each CMS package is similar. If you use another type of CMS, you can still follow along!

WordPress uses a modular concept. It is a framework that allows users to make changes that affect the entire website. For instance, if you don't like the look and feel of your website, you can change it by swapping out a different theme. Themes control the look and feel of your website.

If you need some extra functionality, you can install plugins. These are pieces of code that gets attached to your WordPress installation that performs specific functions. For instance, if you need scheduling functionality, look for plugins that will accomplish this.

WordPress also supports widgets, which are similar in a way, to plugins. These are snippets of code that perform functionality, but are usually tied to the website theme. For instance, you can use widgets to add advertising to your website. Or, if you need to add contact information at the bottom of your website, you would usually do this using a widget.

WordPress Has a Learning Curve

It's unlikely that you'll be able to start developing day one when you install WordPress website. That is, unless you already know how to do it. If you are new to WordPress, you will have to come up to speed.

However, it's not difficult, at all. It would not have come as far as it has if it were. Once you learn the foundation, it is simply a matter of working with the interface to get used to it. Then, it becomes a piece of cake.

Hiring a WordPress Designer

Before, I mentioned that hiring a designer to build your website is expensive. This was back before WordPress (or CMS) existed. Hiring a WordPress designer is much cheaper than having someone design your website from scratch.

In fact, if you find someone who is trying to set your website up for thousands of dollars, move on. They are taking advantage of your lack of knowledge about the process. It should not cost more than $100 or less to get a basic WordPress installation going.

To be fair, that $100 is for a basic set up with a free theme that can be found online. If you need more customization, you should expect to pay depending on what you want created. If there are themes and plugins available for a fee, you should not expect the designer to eat the cost of licensing those on your website. You need to pick up those costs.

Also, if the designer is required to create custom themes and plugins themselves (assuming they have the expertise), it could and should cost several hundreds of dollars (maybe even thousands). It will depend on many factors, including how extensive the customization is going to be.

My suggestion is to get a basic website going and then as it becomes popular and starts making you money, you can use some of the money to add customization.

Hybrid Solutions

There are platforms available online, that are a cross between doing it yourself and having the platform do it for you. I call these hybrid approaches. These solutions allow you to drag and drop components onto your base platform which gives you added features and functions.

The following (not exclusive) are some examples:

  • Wix.com
  • Weebly.com
  • Web.com

Another name for these types of websites are website builders. They give you the ability to create full scale websites without knowing any code.

Limitations of Website Builders

Website builders pride themselves on being easy-to-use and creating websites quickly. However, there are some drawbacks to using these types of websites.

  • The Functionality is Predefined
  • Some include advertising
  • Lack of control

You get some features for free in the base version of their packages. But, to do anything worthwhile, you have to upgrade and pay a monthly fee.

Next Steps...

As you can see, you have several choices. When you learn to do it yourself, you control every aspect of the website. When you rely on other platforms, you are stuck with whatever they dish out for you. They may even tell you what you can and cannot include on your website.

Learning how to set up a WordPress website is a great way to get an affordable small business website design. Take a look at the following to see just how easy it is:
